Appears in the 1851 census in Worthington as a Schoolmaster living at 11 Barton Row.
Has a grand daughter visiting them in 1851 - Elizabeth Smith (age 3).
Appears in 1871 census living at Sutton Bonington (St Martins?) as a Blacksmith's Assistant at 168 Main Street along with his sister Frances Gamble (aged 82) who is a Housekeeper.
Died on 06/04/1879 at the Union Workhouse of Chronic Bronchitis (registered 1879 Apr-Jun - Loughborough 7a 74).
He was an Agricultural Labourer at the time of his death.
The Union Workhouse in Loughborough was built in 1838 on the South side of Derby Road. Among the parishes it covered was that of Sutton Bonington. The workhouse became Regent Hospital (Old People's Home) in 1948 and was demolished to make room for new housing in the late 1900's.
